Brunch at The Larchmont: Gilt City Deal

Remember Gilt City? Yes, it still exists and they still have the best values out of any bargain website. I have been using Gilt City for many years to find great deals on high end restaurants. Back in November, my boyfriend and I enjoyed a delicious brunch with endless mimosas for only $59 at The Larchmont! It is an adorable restaurant built in a old Craftsman style home. When we arrived at 11 a.m. they had just opened and the restaurant was empty.  We decided to sit in the patio area because it was a

Leo’s Taco Truck

If you love tacos al pastor you must go to Leo’s Taco Truck! Tacos al pastor are made from pork that has been marinated in a mixture of chilies, garlic, and pineapple juice.  The meat is then cooked on a spit, gyro meat style. The tacos are small but are very filling. The best part is that they are only $1.25! I recommend ordering them with the pineapple on top. They are traditionally served with cilantro, lime, onion, and your choice of salsa.  The salsa bar at Tacos Leo has

Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen

I recently went to  The Nuart theater to watch Tampopo, a Japanese movie entirely about ramen! Luckly, my boyfriend had previously watched the movie and we decided to eat ramen at Shin Sen Gumi!  Shin-Sen-Gumi is one of those places that you pass by almost everyday and still haven’t tried. Boy were we missing out! They have the specials written on a blackboard. The matcha iced green tea was delicious. I loved that the ramen comes with all of the extra  toppings on the side! I makes it easy to share the

Rockin’ Baja Lobster

I recently took a trip to visit my family. My sister suggested we go to Rockin’ Baja Lobster in Oceanside. As kids, we would travel to Puerto Nuevo for lobster at least twice a year. If you would have asked me what my favorite food was when I  was 4 years old, I would have said, “Lobster!” without hesitation. So when I found out that Rockin’ Baja Lobster claimed to make “Puerto Nuevo style” seafood, I had to go! I mean, look at this bucket… The authentic Puerto Nuevo lobster

Breakfast Happy Hour at Beach 26

Breakfast Happy Hour? Yes, it is true! Beach 26 in Venice has one of the best happy hour menus available in Los Angeles for breakfast. They offer $5 mimosas and have select breakfast items for only $10! The menu is available Monday-Friday from 8 am-11am. I have been here before and love the French toast selections. This is the “Peach Melba” and is made with 2 croissants, vanilla ice cream, caramelized peaches, melba sauce and pecans. I recommend eating on the patio. It is perfectly girly-eclectic and a great place for a

Horchateria Rio Luna

Is it worth the hype? Yes. If you have not heard of Horchateria Rio Luna yet, let me tell you a bit about it, or better yet, let me show you. Horchateria Rio Luna is located in a small strip mall in Paramount, CA. You will probably only find it because of the huge line out the door. They specialize in Mexican American treats, especially Horchata. They also make ice cream conchitas!  It is the equivalent of the invention of cronuts for Mexican Americans! They have mini and large ones at $4 for the mini

Carnitas el Momo

Because of my love for food, I’ve been watching I’ll have what Phil’s having on Netflix. To my surprise, he had an episode about Los Angeles! In it, he featured many places I have already been to,  but he also featured Carnitas el Momo! I had to go! Carnitas el Momo is located in Boyle Heights it is an unassuming food truck serving the best carnitas tacos I have ever had.   The truck moves but is always located in Boyle Heights. You can order buche or cuerito tacos. I recommend

Havana Kitchen

Havana Kitchen  is a restaurant serving authentic Cuban cuisine in Temecula, CA. It is located in Old Town. They have a very comfortable and casual atmosphere. You order from the counter, receive a number, and find seating. They have a large area of couches long tables for group seating. I recommend trying the potato balls. They are crispy on the outside, creamy and meaty on the inside, and come with a dipping sauce. You should also try the Cuban sandwich in your favorite variety, The Ropa Vieja and plantains are some of
